Adriana Meunié (Mallorca, 1985) She has a degree in Fashion Design (Escola superior del Disseny BAU, Barcelona), she has two initial courses into the loom (Teranyina, Barcelona), which she is nowadays investigating about. Meanwhile, she's searching the fusion between ancestral and modern techniques. She has worked in cinema, as a dressing room assistant in the film El Cadáver (2014, Barcelona) and as a dressing room assistant in the Gaudi awards (2011-2012). In 2011, she created and distributed her own collection of t-shirts under the brand name Kamis Kill. She has also prepared fashion collections in Berlin (Bombón casero for the Sameheads boutique, 2012), she has exhibited her paintings made with clothing in the Sadnha Estudio in Palma (2011) and she has worked in Berlin as a fashion designer assistant with Frida Weyler in Theater im Palais, among others.
I’m interested in the society where I live and the role that women of my generation carry out in this context. Subjects as the intimacy, relationships, consumerism, sexuality, culture and traditions are part of my own projects. I denominate all of my works 'mini actions' and I'm using techniques like photography, performance and video to accomplish it.The process of documentation used in the production of them comes from my authobiographic experiences . I use the reinterpretation, the re-action and experimentation as resourcees to think about and make the quotidian thoughts real'
Arantxa Boyero (1982, Colònia de sant Jordi, Mallorca). Graduated with the Master of Photography 'Concepto y Creción' in EFTI Madrid (2007-08), she studied Advanced Photography in 'The Dark Room, Florence, (2006) and she has the Superior Cycle of Photography in the 'Escuela Superior de Diseño de Palma de Mallorca' (2002/05). Nowadays, she lives and works in Madrid. Since 2005 she has realized individual exhibitions. 'Mi Museo Cerralbo' and 'Mi Museo de Antropología' (Addaya Centre d'Art Contemporani, Alaró, Mallorca, 2013); 'Lola te quiero y ellas' ( Addaya Centre d´Art Contemporani. The virginity of Mallorca was the thing who most attract Arti Leimbacher of our island. A virginity that he still searching in every work that he makes. That's the reason why appears a lot of animals in his productions: rams, dogs, ants, rabbits...In the same line, the nature plays an important role, which the artist deals with diverse way, from the direct compartmentalization in a assortment of pieces in the works of the serie “Campestre” until the direct experimentation with the method of saving water irrigation. The virginity who searchs the artist refers to something essential, that you can breath also in every portrait, in every scene of the daily life.
In this way is not casual that before (a lot of years ago), he had been practising the abstraction in the painting, because it is arrive to this looking for the essential, stripping it of contain for found the virginity, something likely religious. But Arti didn't found this in the abstraction. That is for he came back to the source, to the simplicity of the daily life: the rams, pigs and another animals, like the title of one on his exhibitions
As the same way than Franz Marc found the purity in the animal's eyes, Arti has understanded this way that acquire everything in the contemplation of little things as the sheeps grazing, a dog lied under a three shadow...in the same way that the Dovtoiesky's characters found a god in the observation of a flower
This research for the authentic is what remains behind the multidisciplinary production of the artist (who can understand also the digital support or the installation), difficult of classify in a specific style, because the characteristic that can be extracted in some works can be cancelled in others: the nervous and spontaneus line , characteristic of the most of his productions in the serie Campestre change to something vibrant and simplified; the polished finished and detailed of the plates and figures form the Serie Frogs and others comes vibrant and simplified,as trough, in the sculptures of the Plasmagodis. In this sense, he don't define either the capture of something quotidian, we foound series more introspectives or with a critic background, as in the “black paints” from the Mayday Malen serie, or the critique explicit into the oficial world of the art that we found in the serie Art Moderne de la brosse avec le bouquet de l'ocre, in his way that oscillate between the critique vision and the humour.
Arti Leimbacher (1956, Berna, Swiss). He studied fine arts in the ZhdK of Zürich (1977/78) and in the Académie Charpentier in Paris (1979/80) and cinematography in the ZhdK in Zürich (1983/84). He lives in Mallorca since 1986 and he has participed throughout the years in different artistic projects in and out the island. He was artist and contributor in Lacasadelcactus and co-founder of “Capdesmoro Al Quinto Pino Art Club”. He has participed in individual and collective exhibitions as “Nature morte oder die Abdankung im Wöchhüsli”, in Frauenfeld (Swiss, 1980), “Rams, pigs and other animals” into the Kunstmann Gallery, Santanyi (Mallorca 1996), “Ultramarinos”, Lacasadelcactus in Institut de Cultura, La Capella, La Virreina (Barcelona, 2001); Animalia in Can Gelabert, Binissalem, Museu de Mallorca, Palma (Mallorca 2001), “Quicksand” in the Festival Cabueñes into the Centro de Cultura antiguo instituto Jovellanos in Gijón (2002), “Wakumomi” in Shedhalle, Rote Fabrik, Zürich (Swiss 2005), and in Trudelhaus, Baden Baden CH (Germany, 2006) or “Memories of a tourist” in the Esglesia Vella of ses Salines (Mallorca, 2009)
Esther Roca Olivieri (1970. Mallorca). After studying in the School of Design of the Balearic Islands and the School of Art and Design Vitoria-Gasteiz, gets the Degree of Technician of Art and Design, specializing in Illustration. She develop her skills with acrylic, oil and watercolor, but in 2013 she decides to work only with natural pigments. The love of winemaking takes her to analyze the behavior of the pigments obtained during the winemaking process. She works with reds, whites and by-products obtained in its preparation. She has taken part in Felanitx's Nit de l'Art, in the Fira de Llucmajor (467 Edition) and in the Fair of Crafts and rural Tourism in the Bierzo Alto (León). Nowadays she prepares a near exhibition for the Fira de Maig of Campos.
The work of Ferran Aguiló makes that certain labels and artistic concepts keeps empty, derisory. We could link it with the povera art by the use of poor materials, as wool or plastic, or talking about modernity implied in the use of materials 'extra artistics' occured in the 60's inside the ground-breaking with the traditional sculpture, theat sculpture on a pedestal, associated with noble materials and with the monument idea; even we should talk about implied ecology in the recycling. But all of this doesn't tell much about this artist
The fact that the materials of his sculptures are almost always found objects it gets away from this irreverente gesture opened by Duchamp and it doesn't answer to a wish of recycle, but a need, the need of creation. The use of iron, pipes, mattress bases or wool in the Ferran Aguilo's works is so simple as they are there, as the palm in the garden or the canes next to the water tank. Ferran Aguilo's art simply happens, and as long as necessary – authentic-, refuses unnecesary discourses.
In this way, genereally neither can make a clear distinction between figurative or abstract works. His whole works emerge this clichés because in his work all is mixed: the scream comes from the tree, the circle is also a parasil...The same idea of cosmos is in a palm leaf that in the external empty of the circle, in a root of the immensity of the star-filled sky. Ferran Aguilo's art is not mental, but it appeals to conscience. Since the emotion invites to the reflexion, to delay, but delay, in the aesthetic experience, makes us connecting with the eternity, which gives us a certain idea of the world, which each one may want to find.
Ferran Aguiló (Palma, 1957). Since the middle 80's he is part of numerous collective exhibitions, and travels to Chicago (Art Chicago '95 with the Altair Gallery), Croatia (Mediterranea n2. Arte fira la rive, Dubrovnic, 2001), Corea (Una faceta del arte contemporaneo español, Seul, 1992) Amsterdam (Kunst Rai '89, with the Ferran Cano's Gallery) and Switzerland (art Basel '89 and '90, with Ferran Cano's Gallery). Besides, during 7 consecutive years he participied in ARCO (International Fair of Contemporary Art), while his presence becomes usual in art spaces in Mallorca and the peninsula. His individual exhibitions also have a big reception in these spaces. In 2010, the Casal Solleric in Palma presents the retrospective of all his works: Ferran Aguiló. Escultures 1986-2010. His last exhibition, Biometries, takes place in 2013 in the Espai d'art 32, in Pollença. He has also worked as theatrical designer for Iguana Teatre, the Companyia de dansa Maria Antònia Oliver and the Teatre Principal of Palma.
Francesc Bonet (Ses Salines, 1962). In Quatre Mots (Ses Escoles Velles, 2001, Ses Salines) four series dealed by this artist are summarized: the music, the primitive, the sun clocks and the inscriptions in Na Pelada. In Vora Nostra (Galeria Matisos, 2002, Colonia de sant Jordi) the graphites made in 1930 in Na Pelada by the captain Rafel from Ca na Herrera, are reproduced. . Sant Blai (Oratorio de sant Blai, 2003, Campos) is an installation inspired and presented in his own environment. On the one hand, the graphites of the façade of the Oratori are treated, and on the other hand, a hommage is done to the mills,which were, in the past, close friends of this place. The exhibition Génesis (Casal Ca'n Prohens, 2007, Felanitx) born of the inspiration from some paintings into the walls of an old church. From the manuscript which tells Ses Salines history, from the beginnings of a town, emerge the installation 'Luz de Génesis' (Església Vella, 2008, Ses Salines). Amphora (Asador es Teatre, 2014, Ses Salines) deals with the interrelation of the greek-roman goodess with the ancient anphores. Besides, in 2004, Francesc Bonet works as a designer for the Swiss agency Universal. In 2006 he works as illustrator for the book Poemes de la Piscina, by Miquel Àngel Lladó Ribas (Editorial el Corte: special price from the Literary Competition Sant Blai, with the work The art to Sant Blai)
"My work is focused in identity matters and in the society. Mi own history, mi experiences and emotions are all the prisms through diffracts the consumerism society. I'm interested in the confrontation between worlds, the different social classes, generational conflicts or different genders. I'm trying to develope a visual detailed language, through shapes and colours that makes emerge the observer feelings. For doing my projects, I practice differents types of disciplines: painting, sculpture, installations, using a big variety of materials and different techniques, to give life to the infinite spectre of my imagination". Gabriela Meunié (Mallorca, 1987). Lives and works in Bourdeaux. She was trained in the Superior School of Arts Massana (Barcelona) and in the Fines Arts School of Barcelona (2008), as a painter. She has realized some individual exhibitions, among we emphasise the Café del Sol (Barcelona, 2008), La Esquina Gallery (Palma, 2009), Can Manresa (Santanyí, 2010) or the Ombilical Gallery (Bourdeaux, 2013). Jaume Canet provides the iron with a feeling of lightness, maybe for his till to vegetal and organic forms, presumably antagonistic to the iron's rigidity. The artist is able to provide the iron with an insolit naturality: flowers, figs, trees, jellyfish and any kind of animal – as we could see in a recent exhibition, ' The Bestiary', inspired in the Apollinaire's homonym book – become alive under Canet's hands, who has created a personal style, characterized by sinuous lines and balanced compositions, with predilection to vegetals and animals, even though we can find another type of more controverted pieces,such as crucifieds. His crucifieds don't suffer, they have the same hapiness as the fishes, the figs and the flowers, the hapiness of the curve, of the object who knows that is aestheticment charming. His pieces are oscilating between the simplified line – as we can find in the crucified, or in some animals in the bestiary- to a detailed attention to the details -as we can see in some flowers or in some elements of his still life paintings- that obligues to the observer to make an effort and remind that they are made with iron, not to bite them. Although in the less detailed figures, with a weightless appearance, it's also easy to forgot the metal. This is the sign of Jaume Canet, who else could make an iron scenery?
Jaume Canet Adrover (Felanitx, 1966), realizes sculptures and other works with iron since the 80's. Among his individual exhibitions, the ones which stand up are: the exhibition that took place in 'Celler d'art Salvatgi Serrano' in Blanes (1986), some exhibitions in Call Vermell, Felanitx (1987, 1994, 1996), in the 'Torre de ses Puntes', Manacor (1992); 'Arbres' in the Culture House in Felanitx (2004), 'Més arbres' in the Foundation Àngels Planells, Girona (2005), 'El Bestiari' from Apollinaire seen by Jaume Canet in the church of the old hospital in Campos, in ArtNit Campos, and 'Arqueologia del present-Cala Bràfia- S'algar' in the Nitx de l'art in Felanitx (2013). He has participied in collective exhibitions, as '4 instal·lacions al parc de la Mar' (Palma) and 'Camins II' in the Foundations La Caixa Girona (1987), in the gallery Joana Kunstman, Cas Concos (1995), in the Sala Pelaires, Palma (1998), 'Cayendo del cuadro' in the Sala Kunstkanzlei in Viena (2001), 'Erotisme a la plàstica contemporània a les Illes Balears', itinerant Illes Balears-Barcelona (2992), Gallery Space. Among others works, it should stress the fulfilment of the gargoyles of the school 'Es Lledoner' in Felanitx and the façade of the winery 'ánima Negra', both of them realized in 2007.
The work of Julià Panadès is materialized in different formats, as the collage, the installation, the sculpture or, even the tapestry. Even though, he has created an iconography and an own stamp, which gives uniqueness in this multidisciplinar production. As the artist says, the identity and mysticism are the pillars of his work, and, from this, he plays with some elements which are repeated and reelaborated. Simbolic elements, as the braid or the pyramid, others removed from the nature, present in his still life paintings- a particular still life who sends, on the one hand, to the rituals of religions, and on the other hand, to the tradition in History of art-. There are still lifes realized with objects full of symbolism, normally combined with photographies. In this sense, the still life can be related with the home altar or the particular still life which anyone has at home aside familiar photographies with candles and other objects. The photographies are one of the most characteristic elements of his work: faces retouched ,cut, decontextualized, often in black and white, from family and other people. Through these images he reflects about the weakness of the idea of identity, in a world where “all are one” or “all is energy”, as some of his series are about. The mysticism behind each one of his pieces is maybe the stamp of the artist, a mysticism related with the New Age, based on the conscience of unicity with the cosmos, in the idea of soul that goes beyond the physic life, in the practice of the meditations and have in mind the progress in physic quantum related with the spirituality.
His collages are formally defined for a compositive wealth for the containment in the number of elements, following the core idea of Mies, 'Less is more', that is not casual, because Panadés combines the artistic practice with the graphic design, disciplines not separated in his work, but he has joined them in perfect cooperation. Anyway, 'more is less' it's also a zen core idea.
Julià Panadés is gratuaded in Art and Design (2005) and in Illustration and Aniation (2008) for the Art School and Superior Design Serra i Abella from Barcelona, and afterwards he did two courses of Publicity and Public Relations in the UFP (Barcelona). He worked as a graphic designer in Shangai for a year. His work has been selected for different awards, among them, one of animations: Xinacità (Barcelona, 2007), 'Ink 01: Encuentro Internacional de Ilustración' (Bilbao, 2008, or the 'Premi Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert' (Malorca, 2009). He has publicated works in national and international magazines , as SpunkArt Mag, Clone Magazine, Neon Magazine or Absolut Network. He has participied in individual and collective exhibitions in the Addaya gallery, the Fran Reus gallery, into the festival 'Cultura a Casa' and recently he inaugurated 'Tábula Rasa' in Es Baluard.
Mariana Sarraute (1971. Buenos Aires).
“Within her creative itinerary, she points out icebergs in the shape of riddles which contain traces of aesthetics, irony and triviality; she goes all the way to beauty as an experience and physical state to the ecstasy, she arrives to sex, religion, death and existence and leave us suspended on the pendulum which oscillates over the black box of her images.
If we drown in them, we appreciate their surface from the inside and viceversa, indisputable binomial of a unity on which to flow in all directions. The bottom of something is a sublime mistery and it is directly proportional to its appearance.
The personal experience of beauty can possess somatic displays: acceleration of breath and cardiac rhythm, rising of blood pressure, sickness, fatigue, sweat… a transit to the mystic and transcendental from and with the corporal. In order to find its meaning, the spectator has to take his time of observation and make the experience of contemplation allow him to observe.”
Since 2004 she realizes ceramic works from some learned techniques through formation courses that she has realized, but being above all a self-taught artist, who likes experimenting, inventing, creating without limits. Her pieces are born with the idea that the materia is the `prevailing element in each of them, and with that she expresses what the work want to transmit, earth, nature, strenght, materia...
Nanci Liliana Fernandez (1957, Santa Fe, Argentina). She has an Architecture degree in the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (1996), where she dedicated her professional life doing her profession. She has lived in Mallorca since 2000. She has studied in the Escuela de Oficios Artesanales de sa Gerreria since 2003, and has done some different courses: in the Feria del Barro in Llucmajor(2003), on warped with Evangelio López, with Ramon Fort on terra sigilata and different decorating tehniques with steam (2007), with Anima Roos she did a porcelain course in Huesca (2009). From 2008 until nowadays, she has participed in the collective exhibition SOM 3 in the Masters Art Galeries Gallery; in Can Pere Ignasi in Campos and in the Església Vella from ses Salines (2013), with Jorge Cabral in the exhibition "Mujeres + Caprichos", Arteartesania space, Sóller (2013), in the exhibition Women 10, Paris (2012), in the exhibition Nous les Femmes, ESMOD Escuela de moda, París (2011), and in the collective exhibition Nosotras, ses Salines (2010), among others.
Pep Bonet (Colònia de sant Jordi, Mallorca, 1974). Photojournalist and video-producer, he has some different and importants internationals awards, besides a recognition for his framings, forced focusing and impossibles perspectives. Traveler constant, he has documented numerous unbalance and injustice in all the planet. Part of his works have been realized in Africa, one of the most important Fe en el Caos, about the post-war era in Sierra Leona. He also spent three years (2008-2010) in the highway to do an exhaustive report about the rock band Motörhead. He works in personal photographic projects, including video, and realizes works in order to clients or ONG. Frequently, he does conferences about Photography and workshops. Among the most prominents works, he won in 2013 the World Press Photo in the multimedia rank, for his work Shadowa, where he document the darkness vulnerable of the city of Johannesburg (South-Africa). In 2007 and 2009 obtained the 2nd award of this same award. Fel de Terra is his last work, a documentary that he codirect with Rafael M Creus, and that depict Mallorca since hard personal experiences
Rafel M Creus (Campos, 1966). Nowadays, with Pep Bonet, codirect and is scripwriter in the documentary Fel de la Terra, in shooting. He have a degree in Law (UB) and a Master in Periodism and Communications (UAB-UIB). He has completed his formations studying Cinematographic Script in the international School of Cinema in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Professionally, he has worked in written press, radio, press offices,and mostly, in television. He has received some awards for his scripts, story tales and poetry. He was Subdirector of the Television de Mallorca chain (2007-2011), editor and host of the programe news bulletin in this same chain. He has directed, presented and scripted the weekly program Enxarxats (Television de Mallorca) and the live musical program Rift (Telenova, 1997-2000). He also was scriptwriter and host of the serie Luz de Mar (TVE 2006) and scripwriter of the serie about humanitarian help Con el corazón (TVE, Telenova, Canal 4. 1999-2000), among others. Besides, he has participied as a director-scriptwriter in the audiovisuals of the trhee first editions of the Festival Internacional de Poesia de la Meditarránea (1999 to 2001), and as a scriptwriter of the biographic videos Josep Melià, el último testigo; Damià Huguet and Blai Bonet as Blai Bonet
Rudolf Schwizgebel (Weitzkon, Switzerland, 1949). Architect, especialized in the University of Fine Arts of Zuric in Industrial Design. In 1975 he opened his own office and it lasted until 1986, when he moved to Ses Salines and left his profession. Since his first exhibition in 1970, he has realized more than 40 individual and collective exhibitions, in Switzerland and Spain. From 1955, he also dedicates to create sculptures, and he obtains some orders from the town (Vela en honor de Jordi Calafat/ Grumet de Sal). In 1997 he published his first work with caricatures Los alemanes de Mallorca, and in the following years the following books: Ajuntament bona nit, Los rasputifos, El rosario de escándalos y corrupción and Los suizos de Mallorca
Lluís Oller (Barcelona 1981) and Mary Lambourne (Valldemossa 1982) have a degree in Fine Arts in Barcelona and they are musicians too.
During their studies in Image -video and photo- they created the audiovisual group Pelai de la Frontera, a group specialized in the video-creations, established in the Pelai street, in Barcelona, a collective specialized in the realisation of video-creations, documentary, promotional videos, videoclips, spots, recordings and reports that treat the process of artistic creation and events related with the world of the fine and scenic arts.
Since 2003 they have combined the activity of Pelai de la Frontera with their artistic projects. Their work always starts from the photography, music and video, related in movement images, where the time control is very important. Creations where spacial and temporary arts converge to describe an idea, a dimension in which the creations transmit a message in motion.
The documentary concept, or the bases of the documentary genre, are also a constant in their creation process, everything starts from a reality in synthesis, to capture the essence and transmit the spirit, the meaning and the philosophy of every world.
Sebastià Portell (Ses Salines, Mallorca, 1992). He is a playwright and writer. He's studying Publicity and Public Relations in Pompeu Fabra University, and Catalan Language and Literature in Universitat Oberta of Catalunya. In spite of his brief career, he has written and premiered, among others, Entre tu i jo, gris (Coincidencias Teatro, 2010), a play made from a story book with the same title, in the Auditorium of Alcúdia, and Un torrent que era la mar (Maror Teatro, 2012-2013), winner of the VI Premi de Teatre Breu Inicia't of Badalona and published for the editorial Pont del Petroli in November in 2013, in the Auditorium Municipal S'Esponja de ses Salines. Besides, he is also the author of La mort de na Margalida, cançó de tristesa de l'illa de Mallorca (Lleonard Muntaner, 2012), finisher of Premi de Teatre Mediterrani Pare Colom d'Inca 2012 and special mention in the XV Premi Boria-Òmnium of theatre. His articles and stories have been published in newspapers and magazines as Núvol, the digital of culture, Pèl Capell, Microcosmos, Ressò and Dies i Coses, among others, and he has participied in some poetry readings and literary acts, as the poetic cycle celebrated for the XV anniversary of the death of Blai Bonet (2012), organised by the collective Pèl Capell, or in the poetry cycles Festa del (s) Llibre (s) (2012), Cap Paraula (2013), Llengua d'espart (2013) and En lloc d'adorar la vida (2013), the last one with a plaquette published with the same name, with the poets Lucia Petrelli and Pau Vadell i Vallbona. He directed the show Com Elles, with Odile Arqué, Mieria Vidal-Conte and Marc Romera in La Seca EspaiBrossa, Barcelona (2014)
“Every now and then I´ve got the feeling, I´ve lived another life before and now it´s my life number two. In the first one I went through studies of psychology and philosophy - in Munich and Bristol - before I´ve got specialized in psychosomatic voice disorders. Working at the University of Kiel inside a clinical career the insight grew stronger that I wanted to live up to other interests. Looking for broader and creative possibilities I´ve studied film and visual art at the Art Academy of Hamburg. To make the change complete, I then moved to the Mediterranean. Living an islandlife with two little children far away from the places where the production companies were located, I focused increasingly on photography and since 1990 I am working as a freelance photographer in Spain. I am very happy and fullfilled with my job and enjoy trying to discover the essential points of human situations.”
Burger Ushi-Precht (......). In 2013 participates in Art Project Corme (Galicia); during 2012 in Arnit Campos (Mallorca) and the Art Museum of the Openin Corme (Galicia); in 2011, on display at the International Center of Photography in New York, among others . As a freelance photographer, has worked for Spiegel, El País, Iberostar, Air Berlin, VOX, Wallpaper, and many companies and publications.
